UK wide
Association of British Clinical Diabetologists
The national organisation of Consultant Physicians in Britain who specialise in Diabetes Mellitus. Most are also Acute General Physicians, and many are also Specialists in Endocrinology and Lipid Metabolism.
Association of Children’s Diabetes Clinicians (ACDC)
ACDC includes all hospital paediatricians who look after children and young people with diabetes. Its aims are to: improve services for children with diabetes; share good practice in terms of service organisation and clinic guidelines; and support consultants and other clinicians looking after children with diabetes. ACDC works with BSPED and other recognised organisations promoting care for children with diabetes and to promote involvement in research.
British Association of Retinal Screeners
Open to diabetologists, ophthalmologists, optometrists, nurses, technicians, screening administrators and commissioners who are engaged in diabetic retinal screening. The site provides an ongoing education resource about screening and diabetic retinopathy.
British Society of Paediatric Endocrinology and Diabetes (BSPED)
The BSPED aims to advance education in paediatric endocrinology and related subjects by promoting research in such areas and disseminating the useful results of such research.
Diabetes Education and Self Management for Ongoing and Newly Diagnosed (DESMOND)
DESMOND supports other health organisations to deliver first class patient education to people with Type 2 diabetes, or who are at risk of diabetes. It works together to improve opportunities for learning and support for people with diabetes and the health care professionals involved with them.

Diabetes UK is the largest organisation in the UK working for people with diabetes, funding research, campaigning and helping people live with the condition. Foot in Diabetes UK
Foot in Diabetes UK (FDUK) aims to unite, support and develop multidisciplinary teams to drive forward best practice and care in the management of the diabetic foot. FDUK is a national, independent, multi-professional, group of people who are involved in the care, management and research of people with diabetic foot disease.
Insulin Dependent Diabetes Trust
A charity based in the UK listening to people with diabetes and their carers and supporting their needs. The Trust is run entirely by voluntary donations and we do not accept funding from the pharmaceutical industry in order to remain uninfluenced and independent.

Diabetes Foot Screening
The Foot Risk Awareness and Management Education (FRAME) project was commissioned by the Scottish Government to produce an e-learning resource which would help standardise diabetes foot screenings performed by Health Care Professionals. The website aims to provide an interactive way of learning and uses animations and case scenarios. There is an assessment involving case scenarios at the end of this module which the learner may opt to undertake and which, if passed, gives a certificate of completion.

Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service for Wales (DRSSW)
The Diabetic Retinopathy Screening Service for Wales (DRSSW) is an all Wales service designed to detect sight threatening diabetic retinopathy at an early stage before visual loss occurs, ensuring early treatment and preventing loss of vision in 70-90% of people with sight threatening diabetic retinopathy. The Service was commissioned by the Welsh Assembly Government in July 2002 as part of a risk reduction programme and an important element of delivering the Diabetes National Service Framework (NSF).
