RCN Infection Prevention and Control Network
Welcome to the RCN's Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) Network. This UK and international-wide network is for any member who has an interest in infection prevention regardless of practice setting or role. The network complements membership of RCN Forums and is committed to promoting excellence in nursing practice.
The network is in its embroyonic stage and we aim to develop a 'virtual infection prevention community' for members as resources become available. In the interim period, the network allows two-way communication between members and the nurse advisor for infection prevention and contol, with the website acting as a resource for publications, events, links to other sites of interest and other RCN professional resources.
Members of the network are encouraged to become active in a variety of ways such as attendance at infection prevention workshops or study days, commenting on consultation documents and assisting in writing or developing resources on behalf of the network. This is an excellent opportunity to enhance your personal and professional activity in a way that provides tangible benefits to patients.
Current network activity is focusing on:
- supporting activities associated with Wipe it out
- developing collaborative opportunities for working with professional forums/communities on issues pertaining to infection prevention, for example collaboration with The Public Health Forum on the development of PVL resources and the recent RCN student pocket guide sepsis content
- raising the profile of the RCN as a key influencer and leader in HCAI reduction.
Members of the network have been invited to contribute to work around Wipe it out and further details are provided on the Wipe it out webpage. Additionally, recent activity has centred on responses to a number of consultations and participation in events hosted by the RCN. Please go RCN activity on infection prevention for further details.
If you are not yet a member and are interested in joining this rapidly growing network please email ipc@rcn.org.uk with your date of birth or RCN membership number.
