Facilitator Development Programme
The RCN’s Facilitator Development Programme is a 14 day learning and development programme for individuals who have been nominated by their organisation to lead on the implementation of the RCN’s Clinical Leadership Programme. This programme is delivered over 12 months during which time the local facilitator will begin to deliver the RCN Clinical Leadership Programme within their organisational context with the full support of the RCN Learning and Development Consultancy Service.
The next programme begins with a briefing day in December 2012 (1pm to 4pm), which gives programme commissioners and participants the opportunity to gain further insight into the RCN Clinical Leadership Programme and the outcomes you can expect to achieve through your investment in it.
The programme continues with a five-day residential week in the early 2013, the aim of which is to help participants:
- gain an overview of the Clinical Leadership Programme
- explore facilitation skills
- learn how to effectively lead teams through turbulent times
- ensure safety, quality and sustainability through programme interventions using the award winning Patient Stories and Observations of Care tools
- utilise action learning to drive organisational change.
The rest of the programme is delivered in a series of two-day modules. Day one of the modules focuses on action learning with day two focusing on the following themes which form a toolkit:
- self as leader
- culture and context
- safety and quality
- leading effective teams.
The modules mirror those of the RCN Clinical Leadership Programme and are intended to enable new facilitators to gain insight into the structure and content of the programme from the perspective of a facilitator.
