Safeguarding
Safeguarding is relevant to all of us, wherever you may practice, whether it’s with children, in mental health, learning disabilities, older people or those in prison. Safeguarding cuts across all nursing practice.
The initial prompt for the RCN to consolidate information around safeguarding arose from RCN Congress 2011 at which Professor Ruth Northway led the resolution debate, and who has since been central to this initiative.
A number of RCN Forum committees have provided information regarding safeguarding in their particular setting which has been used to produce a collated forum response to safeguarding statement (PDF 136 KB) (How to access PDF files) The RCN has focussed upon how we help members to locate information that is practical, useful, relevant and adaptable in different settings and we hope that this resource helps you to navigate more easily towards useful material.
