This Perspectives paper explores views and experiences from a range of people with learning disabilities, who often have high levels if unmet needs as a result of the inequalities they have experienced in the health system.

Mencap and the British Institute of Learning Disabilities (BILD) are currently running a project called 'Involve me', which is sponsored by the Renton Foundation. The project is about how to creatively involve people with PMLD in decision making.
Department of Health (2010) Valuing people now: summary report March 2009-September 2010. Good practice examples (PDF 1.3MB)
The 'Valuing People Now Summary Report March 2009-September 2010' includes findings from the Learning Disability Partnership Board Self-Assessments in 2009-10. The report covers progress made within the last 18 months under Valuing People Now and focuses on the key priorities of improving outcomes for people with learning disabilities in health, housing, and employment. It also shows where more work is needed to make the lives of people with learning disabilities better. This additional guidance contains 10 good practice case studies which demonstrate good practice in implementing Valuing People Now from across the regions.
