Historical information

This Award, now in its fifth year, will be granted to the most innovative doctoral thesis in the nursing disciplines, submitted to the Award Committee. Excellence in scholarship, innovation and the potential to influence health care policy or practice will be the main criteria for deciding the Award. To be eligible for the Award, applicants must:

The successful applicant will be supported in the dissemination of their work through a variety of media and will be awarded a free place at the RCN international nursing research conference in Harrogate in 2011. They will also receive a cash prize of £250.

Please note:  Members of the RCN Research Society Steering Committee, RCN staff supporting the work of the RCN Research Society or members of the Award Panel are not eligible to apply for the Award.

Abstracts submitted for the RCN Research Society Akinsanya Award for Doctoral Scholarship in Nursing are peer reviewed by a panel. You may want to download the following criteria to increase the potential for your abstract to be reviewed favourably: Checklist (MS Word, 38K)
