Background

Gillian is lead nurse for Research and Development, Western Health and Social Care Trust, Northern Ireland and a member of CNAC R&D Committee.

Gillian qualified as a registered general nurse in 1986, and completed midwifery training in 1989. Worked as a staff nurse in a variety of settings, such as paediatrics, orthopaedics, and general medicine. Employed as a senior staff nurse in cardiology, 1991. Took up a post as clinical trials nurse, cardiology in 1999 and remained in post until 2008, participating in many national and international studies.

Gillian completed BSc (1st class honours) in Nursing Science in 2007.  Current role since 2008 to promote research, not only clinical trials, and evidence based practice, amongst nurses and midwives and also has managerial responsibility for the Clinical Research Nurses. She also remains active in cardiology, her own clinical area.
