National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Trainees Co-ordinating Centre (TCC)
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) makes research training awards available to all professionals with an interest in people and patient based applied health research, in order to build a leading NHS Research Faculty, develop research careers, research leaders and collaborators. This research capacity development is managed by the NIHR TCC and funded by the Department of Health. The research must be relevant to the NHS, focused on the current and future needs of patients and the public and expected to have an impact within 5 years of its completion. There are a large range of awards available: at different levels, to suit different work arrangements, types of NHS staff and career paths.

rcbcwales: Building research capacity for nursing and allied health professionals
In 2005, the Welsh Assembly Government through the Wales Office for Research and Development for Health and Social Care (WORD) together with The Health Foundation (THF) approved a proposal from six academic institutions in Wales to enhance Nursing, Midwifery and Allied Health Professions Research Training. The partners in this collaboration have established rcbcwales (research capacity building collaboration, Wales) in order to administer and manage this training scheme.
