Special areas of research activity:

Research at the School encompasses two major themes:

  1. Clinical Care
    Prof Emma Ream (emma.ream@kcl.ac.uk)
Clinical care research focuses on nurse and midwife and led care, interventions and service provision in the care and treatment of patients and its associated outcomes.
  2. Service Organisation and Policy
    Dr Jill Maben (jill.maben@kcl.ac.uk)
Service organisation and policy examines the health service provision both in the UK and overseas and examines the workforce related issues and their implications on staff, patients and carers.

National Nursing Research Unit (NNRU)

The School is also home to the National Nursing Research Unit (NNRU), the only Department of Health-funded unit of its kind in England, putting it at the forefront of health services, policy and evaluation research. The aim of the NNRU is to produce world class health services research that is of relevance to policymakers and healthcare leaders and which contributes to improving the quality and effectiveness of nursing in its social, political, local, national and global contexts.
