Get involved and join one of the HTA Topic Identification Development and Evaluation (TIDE) panels advisory groups

Encouraging nurses to join one of the TIDE panels of NHS experts, the HTA is particularly looking for expertise in elective and emergency specialist care.  Ideally, you should be working in a hospital setting.  You will influence the NHS research agenda by identifying and developing the topics answering the questions the NHS and patients need to ask.

Six things to know about these panels:

  1. Panel members are principally clinicians and healthcare professionals working in the frontline NHS, who understand the issues and challenges being faced and who can apply their knowledge and experience to advise on what research is needed
  2. Membership gives you the opportunity to meet fellow professionals from related but different fields of expertise, who share a similar interest in advancing the knowledge base on which the NHS makes decisions
  3. Members enjoy the intellectual challenge of considering issues not necessarily in their immediate area of practice
  4. A substantial amount of the research funded by the HTA Programme informs NICE guidance and College guidelines
  5. Panel membership enhances professional recognition as an expert advisor to one of the NIHR’s largest research programmes: attendance at meetings contributes to clinical appraisal folders, CPD and clinical excellence awards
  6. The panels meet three times a year in central London (in March, July and November); meetings are a full day (10 to  4) with approximately a day’s preparation required before each meeting: written confirmation of attendance can be provided for your employing organisation
