Two PhD opportunities at the University of West of Scotland

Successful candidates will receive an £13,590 annual stipend payable for three years and payment of tuition fees (current value is £3,900).  You must be available to start in October 2013. 

1. Evaluation of restorative practices in complaints resolution http://www.findaphd.com/search/ProjectDetails.aspx?PJID=45260&LID=1274

You will work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders including patients, families, frontline staff, advocacy and patient liaison staff, senior management and complaints teams.  An appreciative inquiry methodology will be adopted that will work with and for people to learn from experiences that work well and build a robust model that supports service users and staff.

2. Working with older people with dementia during episodes of hyperactive delirium in an acute hospital setting http://www.findaphd.com/search/ProjectDetails.aspx?PJID=45263&LID=1274

You will work collaboratively with staff (e.g.nurses, doctors, AHPs) from participating NHS sites to explore interactions and strategies that work well to enhance the experience of patients, family and staff during this acute phase.  In addition, you will explore the experience of giving and receiving care at this time to identify particular challenges.
