Finding the evidence

"Standing on the shoulders of giants" is a phrase well known to researchers, and anyone embarking on a piece of research will want to know what has already been done. The most obvious starting point is to conduct a literature search, and full RCN members can get help with this. Whilst the finding the evidence section of our website provides a signposting service to various databases of completed research, including the recently launched NHS Evidence portal, the latest news section lists recently published reports, articles and research.

HTA - just published January to February 2012

The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Health Technology Assessment (HTA) Programme produces independent research information about the effectiveness, costs and broader impact of healthcare treatments and tests for those who plan, provide or receive care in the NHS. Projects on the following topics have been recently completed: development of a social inclusion index; congenital heart defects; engaging in violent behaviour; suspected alcohol-related liver disease; using drugs in treating obese patients; age-related macular degeneration.
