Community nurses innovate to improve patient care projects for 2013

The Queen’s Nursing Institute announced details of the ten new nurse-led projects it will support during 2013 as part of their Fund for Innovation and Leadership programme.  Bringing together a group of nurses each year, the year-long programme aims to test new ideas and improve care delivered by nurses, allied health professionals and their teams in the community.

Each project benefits from funding of up to £5,000 and the project leaders participate in a series of professional development workshops throughout the year.  The Burdett Trust for Nursing supports the QNI Fund for Innovation and Leadership.  The projects are:

  1. Dual Diagnostics Physical Health and Memory Assessment Service at the First Community Health and Care in Surrey
  2. Text 4 Health at the East Cheshire (NHS) Trust
  3. Anorexia Nervosa Support Programme at the Lincolnshire Partnership NHS Trust
  4. Improving health outcomes for children with a Learning Disability and constipation using abdominal massage at the Leicestershire Partnership Trust
  5. Managing  Exam stress and anxiety in year 10 pupils at the Isle of Man Youth Service
  6. Health Promotion Clinic for women in mental health crisis at the Camden & Islington Foundation Trust
  7. Community Cardiac Rehabilitation Women’s Walk Group at the Bradford Teaching Hospitals Foundation Trust
  8. Improve access to healthcare  for the Gypsy and Traveller community at the East Sussex Healthcare Trust
  9. Mission for Health - support for socially excluded people at the Local Community Partnership CIC in West Yorkshire
  10. Improving Care for people with Lymphoedema at the Family Nursing and Home Care in Jersey
