New funding opportunities with the NIHR Health Services and Delivery Research programme April 2013

The HS&DR programme funds research to improve the quality, effectiveness and accessibility of the NHS, including evaluations of how the NHS might improve delivery of services. It has two workstreams of mainly researcher-led and mainly commissioned. The latest commissioned call for proposals is "After Francis: Research to strengthen organisational capacity to deliver compassionate care in the NHS", apply by 30 May 2013.

i4i Invention for Innovation Challenge Awards 2013

The EME commissioned workstream advertises calls for research proposals that address specific research areas. The latest calls are for alcohol and substance misuse in younger people (to exclude nicotine) and radionuclide imaging in non-malignant disease, apply by 3 June 2013.

Primary Care interventions call for research proposals

In February 2013, the NIHR issued a call for research to evaluate health care interventions or services delivered in primary care settings through eight NIHR managed research programmes. You can view videos and presentations given at a workshop to help you submit an application. Closing date is 22 May 2013.

It has two workstreams of mainly researcher-led and mainly commissioned. The latest commissioned call for proposals are Self-care: a focus on the effectiveness of re-ablement interventions, apply by 16 May 2013 and Call for Expressions of Interest: Production of Evidence Syntheses for the HS&DR Programme, apply by 21 March 2013.

HTA clinical evaluation and trials programme

HTA are inviting researchers to submit proposals for evaluations studies within the remit of the HTA, including feasibility, pilot studies, proposals for evidence synthesis and clinical trials. Closing date is 13 May 2013.

£120 million investment for research to improve NHS services

Launched in January 2013, the Department of Health announced £120 million for an open competition to research ways of improving NHS services. Each research project will involve collaborative partnerships between a university and surrounding NHS organisations and will be overseen by the NIHR. The competition closes on 13 May 2013.
