Final report published on expanding access to published research findings

Chaired by Dame Janet Finch, the working group set up in 2011 to examine how UK-funded research findings can be more accessible, published its final report on 18 June 2012. It recommends the UK should move towards open access and accelerate the process in a measured way that promotes innovation.

Better, faster communication of research results will bring benefits for public services and for economic growth. It will also bring improved efficiency for researchers, and opportunities for more public engagement with research.
