Partnering with patients to improve research engagement in the NHS

Involvement4Access is an NIHR initiative encouraging active patient and public involvement to improve patient access to clinical research through local NHS organisations.  It will do this by supporting, networking, monitoring, increasing and evaluating local initiatives.  These include initiatives already involving patients and the public as ‘research ambassadors’ as well as new and planned work.  Research ambassadors may be fulfilling both formal and informal roles within local NHS organisations.

As Involvement4Access develops, it will encourage further work across England, typically through partnerships of NIHR Clinical Research Network Local Research Networks, and other local NHS and patient organisations.
