UK new evidence centres to drive better decisions across £200 billion of public services

A UK Government initiative is building on existing evidence-based policy making to guide decision-making, creating a What Works Network. This will consist of two existing centres including NICE, plus four new independent institutions, one of which is for promoting active and independent ageing.
2012 patient feedback on the UK Clinical Trials Gateway resource

Launched by the UK Prime Minister in 2011, this resource aims to help patients take part in research by providing high-quality information on clinical trials. In 2012, the NIHR reviewed the UK Clinical Trials Gateway from a patient perspective, issuing a report and recommendations in January 2013.
Mystery shopper campaign highlights NHS shortcomings in promoting clinical research

New clinical academic centre for diabetes nursing to start in 2013

The UK-based centre will develop and expand vital research into caring and supporting people with diabetes within a Europe-wide network. Announced in November 2012, it will create relevant opportunities for developing innovative research in diabetes nursing, clinical practice and education. The three-year funding programme will begin in 2013.
Improving data collection on recurrent and metastatic breast cancer

NNRU publishes a collection of 35 issues of Policy+

Marking the National Nursing Research Unit's 35th anniversary, Professor Jill Maben launched their collection of thirty-five issues of Policy+ in September 2012 that brings together evidence, review and reflection on pertinent nursing issues.
