Nurse-led research wins 2011 RCGP Research Paper of the Year for dementias and neurodegenerative diseases category

Announced in June 2012, RCN Research Society member, Professor Vari Drennan, won this award for her qualitative study of managing incontinence with people with dementia living at home. Entitled ‘A taboo within a stigma?’ it investigated carers’ perceptions of the range of incontinence problems they help their relative with, the strategies they use to manage these and the care health professionals provide.
Seonaid C Mackay winner of the 2012 Marjorie Simpson New Researcher Award

Seonaid's winning paper on the use of telehealth to manage inflammatory bowel disease awarded her a paid-for place at the RCN's international research conference in April 2012.
