Research and Development by the RCN 2013-2016
Why an RCN R&D Refresh and Action Plan project?
The project has been commissioned by the Nursing Practice and Policy Committee (NPPC), and the Research and Development Governance group (RDGG) to:
- revise the current strategy in line with the changing healthcare landscape
- maximise the RCN’s contribution to the full range of nursing activity by improving the way in which knowledge and evidence is used in decision making to ensure that health care is safe, effective and person-centred
- review the governance of the implementation of the original RCN Research Strategy as part of the refresh project, which will then inform the future role and membership of the RDGG
Our vision is to be the authoritative voice and ‘go to’ place for nursing knowledge.
Project Aim
To publish an R&D strategy document and action plan by June 2013.
R&D Strategy will:
- Articulate the RCN’s R&D Focus as an organisation
- Set out the organisational objectives for each focus area
- Identify outcomes and success criteria
- Identify potential risks/challenges and strategies to mitigate them
R&D Action Plan will:
- Identify current specific work/projects for each objective with project leads
- Clarify links and roles with working partners/departments/forums etc
- Identify specific projects for development
- Define progress against success criteria
