Internal environment*
1.1 Create a corporate environment supportive of the use of research knowledge in policy and practice
1.2 Ensure the RCN workforce has the capacity and capability to use research knowledge in policy and practice
1.3 Ensure the RCN workforce has access to the appropriate resources to use the research knowledge in policy and practice
External environment*
1.4 Clarify the RCN's role in creating a healthcare workplace environment which is supportive of the use of research knowledge in practice and policy

* Three working papers will be developed (1.1 and 1.4, 1.2 and 1.5, 1.3 and 1.6) which will reflect both an internal and external environment. Authors and co-ordinators are as follows:
