About the award

The RCN Research Society 2007 inaugural Akinsanya award for doctoral scholarship in nursing in association with Anglia Ruskin University is granted to the entry judged to be the most innovative thesis in the nursing disciplines in the preceding academic year. Excellence in scholarship, innovation and the potential to influence health care policy or practice are the main criteria for deciding the award. The successful applicant is supported in the dissemination of their work through a variety of media and is awarded a free place at the RCN International Nursing Research Conference. The winner also receives a cash price of £250.

This year the judging panel was chaired by Research Society steering committee member, Professor Annie Topping and included Professor Martin Johnson and RCN Fellow, James Smith.
