Poster award 2009
Details of the 2009 award winners can be found on the RCN Research Society Awards pages
This year there will again be an attempt made to identify three of the best posters presented during the conference. In recent years the RCN Research Society has endeavoured to raise the profile of poster presentation as a meaningful approach to the dissemination of research findings and as a useful means to foster debate on issues related to research. This strategy would appear to have been successful because the quality of posters has improved dramatically over this time.
Posters will be judged on a number of criteria, including:
• the quality of the science
• the originality of the research
• the effectiveness of the use of a poster as the means of presentation
The judging panel will be
- Professor Christa Lohrmann, Head of Department, Department of Nursing Science, University of Graz, Austria (and international Scientific Committee member of the RCN 2009 annual international nursing research conference)
- Dr Angela Grainger, Assistant Director of Nursing (Research and Education), King's College London (and Scientific Committee member of the RCN 2009 annual international nursing research conference and Steering Committee member of the RCN Research Society)
- Karen Winchcombe, Student Nurse, University of the West of Scotland (and student member of the Scientific Committee member of the RCN 2009 annual international nursing research conferenceand RCN Association of Nursing Students representative)
Poster presentations
Posters should be no larger than 1 metre in width and 2 metres in height.
This year we have sourced a specialist poster design and print service for delegates to utilise should they choose. The Royal College of Nursing has negotiated a significant discount for any presenters sending their posters for print or design before the 17th March 2009. Presenters will qualify for an £8 discount on the print only price and a £25 discount on the design and print price. Presenters can also select to collect their poster at the meeting which will eliminate the P&P charges - hence anyone wanting their poster printing and choosing to collect from the venue will only pay £30 - a saving of over £15 on the normal price including P&P of an A0 poster. The cost of a design and print is also only £90, a saving of over £30 on the normal price. Scienceposters can still help with posters after the 17th of March but normal charges will apply.
