Workgroup of European Nurse Researchers (WENR)

Website: http://www.wenr.org/

The RCN has been influential in the Workgroup of European Nurse Researchers in both membership and leadership. The UK RCN representative was the first elected Chair. WENR has developed a working relationship with the European Federation of Nurses Associations (EFN) who commissioned WENR to produced the  2008 report 'Patient Safety in Europe: Medication Errors and Hospital-acquired Infection' [Ed: Smith LN] which was used by EFN to lobby the European Commission on Patient Safety. An earlier 2007 WENR report 'Obesity a Threat to Health : How Can Nursing Research Contribute to Prevention and Care?' [http://www.wenr.org/] was developed with WHO Europe and again was used in the European Commission to support the need for greater nursing input into managing the obesity pandemic. This report was brought to the RCN Congress in 2007 for a fringe event which was over-subscribed and provoked much debate and discussion.
