Clinical research nurses network event on 19 December 2012 17.00 to 19.00
Room G306a, Jean McFarlane Building, Oxford Road, University of Manchester
The evening will involve presentations from key people working in the Research Networks across the North West and focused discussions relating to the professional needs and opportunities for clinical research nurses. Topics will include:
- Development needs in your first 12 months
- Access to CPD opportunities
- Leadership and management
- Mentorship
- Educational avenues from undergraduate to postgraduate
- Patient and Public Engagement

2010 Winifred Raphael Memorial Lecture
The North West Region of the Research Society, in conjunction with the University of Salford's School of Nursing, were proud to host the 2010 Winifred Raphael Memorial Lecture on 21 October 2010. Professor Kate Seers presented a lecture, entitled 'Lost in translation: the art and science of using evidence in practice'. Around 70 people attended and the lecture was followed by a drinks reception. The PowerPoint slides which accompanied the lecture are available here.

2009 Christmas Debate
On 9 December, two experienced research teams presented their proposals to an audience on how to investigate 'Santa Claus - an evaluation'. The audience then voted on which of the teams should receive the award to investigate this important topic. Professor Annie Topping chaired the event.
