CHAIN:

Contact, Help, Advice and Information Network - is an online network for people working in health and social care. It is based around specific areas of interest, and gives people a simple and informal way of contacting each other to exchange ideas and share knowledge.  CHAIN is multi-professional and cross organisational.

Cochrane Library:

This online resource aims to provide high quality evidence for health care decision making. Not only can you search the Library for items of interest, you can also sign up for email alerts.

Health Education Academy:

Provides support to the higher education sector by working with individual academics. The network of discipline-based subject centres provides a range of services to subject departments. The Academy works with UK universities and colleges, providing national leadership in developing and disseminating evidence-informed practice about enhancing the student learning experience. National Centre for Research Methods (NCRM):

This is a network of research groups, each conducting research and training in an area of social science research methods. The NCRM website has details of training, projects and a mailing list facility.

National Institute for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE):

NICE is an independent organisation responsible for providing national guidance on promoting good health and preventing and treating ill health. This website links into to a variety of other sources such as NHS Evidence. The website can be found at: http://www.nice.org.uk/

National Institute for Health Research (NIHR):

The goal of the NIHR is to create a health research system in which the NHS supports outstanding individuals, working in world class facilities, conducting leading edge research focused on the needs of patients and the public.

The NIHR SDO programme aims to make its research accessible to as many different audiences as possible. A range of products are used to publicise the work of the programme, including email bulletins and newsletters.

This is a regular email update, groaning with training events, research funding and the latest health news, and websites in neat little sets of five. The Take 5 newsletter is formulated by the University of Sheffield’s School of Health and Related Research. (ScHARR).
