Leading innovation in healthcare
This seminar will provide an overview of the RCNs work on nursing innovation - from the RCN’s Frontline First campaign, the celebration of nurse-led innovations in practice known as ‘light bulb innovations’ through social and other media through to the development of nursing capability in economic assessment to demonstrate the value of nurse led services. The seminar will clearly demonstrate the value of nurse –led innovations in terms of benefits to service users, the healthcare system and other local services. It will also explore the benefits of empowering nurses with the skills in economic assessment and the wider benefits to the RCN and its members.

Caring Conversations: the heart of delivering compassionate care
This seminar led by the RCN Research Society showcases important research findings that have the potential to improve care delivery. The public image of nursing has recently been tarnished by a number of high profile cases yet at the core of nursing remains compassionate caring. This seminar based on pioneering research undertaken by
Belinda Dewar. She will explore the 7 c's of appreciative caring conversations with congress delegates. Also she will illuminate how appreciative caring conversations are core to compassionate nursing and facilitate the delivery of compassionate relationship centred care. The event will provide opportunity for audience participation and
will be chaired by Professor Annie Topping.
