Congress 2010 - Students' Day
It might feel a little early to be talking about Congress again but time passes quickly and with exciting projects like the RCN Student Bus on at the moment it's easy to leave your arrangements until the last minute.
So, Congress 2010 dates for your diary are 25 - 29 April in Bournemouth and Students' Day is on Tuesday 27 April to be split between the Bournemouth International Centre and The Pavilion just along the road. You can book your place at Congress by completing the student booking form (PDF 70.1KB) [see how to access PDF files].
Based on the feedback you gave us from Congress 2009 we will be putting on a half-day conference, called Reach Your Destination from 1pm - 5pm. This will leave you the morning and late afternoon to visit the fantastic exhibition packed full of potential future employers and influencers of your career, attend fringe events or watch a debate taking place in the main debating hall.
The conference will include visits from Billy Dixon who will re-deliver his hilarious talk on how to present yourselves whether on placement or in job interviews. Annie Topping will be talking about nursing research and Bethann Siviter will talk about the transition from student to staff nurse and much more. Please see the full conference programme below.
1.00pm - 1.30pm Welcome to Students' Day 2010
1.30pm - 2.00pm Annie Topping on research
2.00pm - 2.30pm Margaret Murphy on the patient experience
2.30pm - 3.00pm Neil James on learning disability nursing

4.00pm - 4.45pm Bethann Siviter on the transition from student to staff nurse
We are very happy to be running a student poster exhibition again this year, which gives you the chance to contribute to Congress. The deadline for submission is Friday 5 March so please read the student poster submission guidelines (Word 32.0KB) and start thinking about whether you would like to give it a go. It will look fantastic on your CV.
We are re-running our competition to fund five student members to attend Congress, over one hundred of you applied last year and we're expecting even more interest for 2010 so make sure you enter by visiting the Student Congress Competition.
We will have our t-shirts and to ensure they are distributed fairly we will be issuing vouchers this year along with your usual lunch and dinner vouchers. The student party will be a pink party tying in with the RCN Students bright pink t-shirts and making it easy for everyone to take part by wearing a splash of pink. Dinner will be a barbecue accompanied by music from a steel drum band followed by MiXit and then a DJ until late.
There's lots more to come so revisit here as well as the main RCN Congress webpage for all the details. If you have any queries please contact the student team by email on ans@rcn.org.uk
