Published: 01 November 2011
Stuart Young introduces you to the latest additions to the RCN Students Committee and gives you the low down on all the latest goings on behind the RCN scenes
After a truly amazing year for RCN students, we're now looking ahead to the next 12 months with brand new committee members keen and eager to get your voice heard. It was all change at the RCN annual general meeting, when former student committee members officially stepped down to be replaced by fresh blood following elections over the summer.
The new committee meets for the first time this weekend to plan our strategy for the next year and the streams of work that are affecting students from all four countries of the United Kingdom.
The committee now consists of 16 members:
Myself - Stu Young - Student Member of RCN Council
Gemma Selby - Student Member of RCN Council
Michelle Watt - representing Scotland
Andrew Wyllie - representing Scotland
Tamara Morgan - representing Wales
Sadie Young - representing Wales
John McAteer - representing Northern Ireland
Stephen Kells - represting Northern Ireland
Gavin Wollacott - representing the East Midlands
Jessica Curtis - representing the Eastern region
Stephen Walton - representing the Northern region
Joy Griffiths - representing the North West

Check the RCN website in the coming weeks for our pictures, contact details and plans for the year. Please get in touch with your regional committee member or a student member of Council if there is anything you want to bring to our attention.
Both South West and London regions are vacant seats so if you are interested in representing your fellow students in either of these areas please watch these pages for upcoming elections.
If you want to get in touch before then, you can either email students@rcn.org.uk or stuart.young@rcn.org.uk
We are all looking forward to an exciting and productive year and we hope to see many of you at RCN Congress 2012 in Harrogate. Watch out for the student programme, details of which will be out soon.
