Sick Nurses Fund

This fund is open to current members, student members, retired members, and associate members who require a respite break following:

  • a period of illness
  • a prolonged period of caring for a sick relative.

How to apply

First call the RCN Welfare Service to discuss your situation. They will assess your eligibility and send you an application form. If you are not eligible for assistance members will be offered advice on the best course of action for their specific needs. Contact the service on:

Members can talk with an adviser if their application doesn’t fulfil the criteria for an award, or where an award would currently do little to alleviate financial difficulties.

Where appropriate the adviser can negotiate with creditors. In some cases other insolvency strategies may be appropriate.

Student applicants who do not fulfil the criteria by virtue of their status will be offered advice on raising funds from other charitable sources. Retired or disabled applicants who require funding for equipment beyond the scope of the awards made by the Benevolent Fund will be introduced to other charitable funds.
