Can a third party make changes to my membership details?

No. Under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 we cannot confirm any details or action any changes to membership records from a third party unless we have the express permission of the member in question.

When calling RCN Direct you will be asked by our membership team to comply with a data security check. This involves confirming some personal details to establish the identity of the caller matches the membership record. 

Are there any exceptions to this rule?

Yes. Where a member has deceased or has a critical or teminal illness the RCN will deal with a third party to administer changes.
