Here are the results of the vote.

N.B. Ordinary Resolutions require a majority of 50 per cent of those voting to be carried.  Special Resolutions require a two thirds majority of those voting to be carried.

Ordinary Resolution 1: Membership subscription

From 1 January 2013 to 31 December 2014 the annual membership fee will be:
£198.72, an increase of 32p per month, for full nurse members
and
£99.36, an increase of 16p per month, for health practitioner members.

Votes in favour: 7,545
Votes against: 9,590
Total number of votes cast: 17,135

This resolution did not meet the required 50 per cent majority and therefore was not carried. 

There were 652 absentions, which did not constitute valid votes and have not been included.

Special Resolution 1: RCN election cycle

To amend the RCN Standing Orders to enable the alignment of RCN elections to the calendar year.

Votes in favour: 14,670
Votes against: 1, 043
Total number of votes cast: 15,713

This resolution met the required two-thirds majority and is carried.

There were 2,075 absentions, which did not constitute valid votes and have not been included.

Special Resolution 2: RCN representatives

To amend the RCN Standing Orders to provide for the definition of RCN activists and representatives and to provide for the policies and processes associated with fulfilling their roles.

Votes in favour: 14,546
Votes against: 912
Total number of votes cast: 15,458

This resolution met the required two-thirds majority and is carried.

There were 2,329 absentions, which did not constitute valid votes and have not been included.

Special Resolution 3: Health practitioners

To amend the Standing Orders to enable one of the elected Health Practitioner Council members to become chair of the Health Practitioners Committee in line with the arrangements for the Students Committee and Country and Regional Boards.

Total number of votes cast: 15,849

This resolution met the required two-thirds majority and is carried.

Special Resolution 4: Casual vacancies on Council

To amend the Standing Orders to require that casual vacancies on Council are filled by election.
