Praboromarajchanok Institute for Health Workforce Development

The recent visit of staff from the Praboromarajchanok Institute for Health Workforce Development (PBRI) to RCN HQ was to find out more about the College's work, UK nursing practice and policy issues.
What is the PBRI?
The main functions of the RBRI are to:
- provide suggestions and recommendations for creating policy and strategic planning related to health workforce production and development in Thailand
- create, plan and develop health personnel in response to the policy and health workforce demands set by the Ministry of Public Health
- produce and develop health personnel and co-ordinate with other related departments
- develop systems and conduct research to improve workforce development knowledge
- develop educational standards and provide training for health personnel
- conduct and encourage colleges under Praboromarajchanok Institute to be health service unit to meet the needs of the community
- the colleges should also be a knowledgeable place for the faculties and students to improve practice and conduct research
- co-ordinate and support operations in related to departments.
What training is available?
Nursing qualifications offered by PBRI include a four year bachelor of nursing science. There is then a two year on-campus continuation for qualified nurses who have developed enough to serve communities and social needs. It also offers a bachelor of nursing science for health personnel.
Where is training delivered?
Training is delivered through 38 colleges under supervision of PBRI which include 29 colleges of nursing, seven public health colleges, one medical and public health technology and one college of public health administration.
