  • Take the stairs – raise your heart rate by using the stairs instead of the lift or escalator wherever you can in the Bournemouth International Centre.

  • Get some rest – Congress can be an exhausting experience, so make sure you block some time in your diary for sleep, so your body has time to recover in time for another hectic day.
  • Manage your stress – to maintain a healthy body and a healthy mind, it is vital that you try to keep your stress levels down.  This might be by taking regular breaks to clear your head, catch up with friends or to find some quiet time to think about nothing or to meditate.  There will be a quiet room in the Bournemouth International Centre for you to have some ‘me time’.
  • Drink lots of water – water can increase your metabolism and cleans and refreshes your mind and body. Try to drink 8 glasses a day.
  • Hit the dance floor – dancing is a great way to burn calories.  Choose from the many Congress parties happening throughout the week!
  • Wear a pedometer – don’t forget to join the exhibition trail to get your free pedometer from the RCN stand and start counting your way around the exhibition! You will be amazed how many strides you take - aim for at least 10,000 steps per day.

Let’s make Congress 2008 the healthiest one yet!

The extent of phyical exercise that any individual can and should undertake is very much dependent on the individual themselves. The RCN would therefore advise that if you are going to partake in any of our activities, to not exceed your personal boundaries and limitations, to take care by warming up and down, and if you feel any form of discomfort, to immediately seek the help and assistance of the personal trainer.
