RCN Congress and Exhibition Harrogate 13-17 May 2012

What happens after submission?

7. What happens after submission?

The Agenda Committee decides which resolutions and matters for discussion make it onto the Congress agenda. Its aim is to put together an interesting and relevant agenda that opens up debate and drives forward the College’s thinking.

The committee will discuss all the submissions it has received without knowing who has submitted them or where in the UK they have come from. This blind selection helps to ensure that items are selected purely on their merit.

If your item is accepted the Agenda Committee may come back to you and suggest rewording or changing the angle.

You’ll be expected to stay involved, working with a member of RCN staff to put together background information, proposing the item at Congress and being part of any resulting work afterwards.

If your item is not accepted, you will be told why.

The current Agenda Committee is:

  • Rod Thomson, Chair of RCN Congress
  • Stuart McKenzie, Vice Chair of RCN Congress
  • Kath McCourt, Chair of Council
  • Tom Bolger
  • Billy Drysdale
  • Geoff Earl
  • BJ Waltho

They are always happy to help with advice and guidance on putting together an agenda item – simply contact them via Jane Clarke, RCN Director of Governance Support at jane.clarke@rcn.org,uk.
