Safeguarding adults in everyday practice, a community nursing perspective

District Nurses Forum

Skills development and training

  • Thursday, 12.45-13.45
  • | The ACC 11A

The event is aimed at district and community nurses working in all four countries of the UK. The guidance ‘Safeguarding adults: The role of health service practitioners’ March 2011, identified the key role that health care professionals can play in the identification of abuse, harm and neglect, and in developing appropriate responses to it. A presentation will look at the guidance and will relate it to the aims of ‘The outcome clinical governance and adult safeguarding - An integrated approach’ 2010.

Using case studies and discussion groups, the event aims to raise awareness of safeguarding issues and how staff working within the community can help to identify and prevent the abuse, harm and neglect of vulnerable adults within their community.
