Working in forensic care settings – which are often characterised by violent patients and conflict – can lead to high levels of stress and varying levels of job satisfaction. There is a risk of clinical burnout and emotional exhaustion, resulting in reduced personal accomplishment. However, supportive workplaces that offer supervision, a positive physical environment and a range of benefits, increase satisfaction and, ultimately, nursing attitudes and behaviours.
This workshop will ask delegates about their current clinical environments and assess what is available for them in these settings. Delegates will also be able to sample, and participate in, short experiential learning events to identify what makes a supportive environment.
