Across the UK, all four governments are adopting different approaches to online patient access to records, although the direction of travel is similar. In England, the Government has set a goal that, by 2015, every general practice will offer patients online access to their GP records.
This session will cover the benefits and issues surrounding patient access and explore how the RCN can support nursing staff to be knowledgeable and skilled on this subject. It includes updates on how confidentiality and security of information will be managed, particularly for vulnerable groups, for example, children and those who lack capacity to consent to access by others.
