Public health walk
Health and wellbeing
- Tuesday, 18.00-19.30
- | The ACC Meet outside Cityside entrance of the ACC
In the 19th century Liverpool’s public health profile was catastrophic. In some areas the average life expectancy was as low as ten years, mainly due to high infant mortality. This led to new and radical initiatives which were imitated around the world.
Join Chris Jones, Senior Lecturer, Faculty of Health and Social Care, Edge Hill University for a walk through the city to illustrate some of the main events in Liverpool’s turbulent public health history.
The walk will be uphill and takes about 90 minutes, with stops. The walk will conclude in the Georgian Quarter of the city and is then an additional 20 minute downhill walk back to the ACC. Alternatively, you can catch a bus and Chris will assist with the return journey.
