Older people living in care homes are among the most vulnerable adults in society and have some of the most complex care needs. Many have dementia and most will require care until the end of their lives. A high level of nursing expertise is essential in order to maintain their wellbeing, functioning and quality of life. However, this expertise is not widely recognised, valued or promoted. Supporting the RCN’s This is nursing initiative, this session will showcase the everyday achievements of health care staff in care homes.
Delegates will be encouraged to share examples of best practice. This session is for nurses, managers, carers, staff working in care homes and all those offering services to care home residents.
