RCN Scotland Board invites members to an interactive fringe event looking at the difficulties the NHS faces as budgets come under increasing pressure.
Attendees will be given a number of scenarios challenging them to decide within a constrained budget whether to invest, maintain or disinvest in providing services. For example, would you invest, maintain or disinvest spending on core universal services or in specialist targeted services? Once attendees have recorded their preferred choices, the intended and unintended consequences of these tough decisions will be debated and discussed. Members will be encouraged to reflect on how the RCN positions itself on behalf of members and of the profession when tough – and sometimes unpopular – choices have to be made.
