RCN Congress and Exhibition Liverpool 21-25 April 2013

Getting on the case

RCN stewards have an opportunity to learn about the new RCN case management portal at Congress this year. The training, being held daily, includes a practical demonstration and a chance for representatives to practise using the new system.

Malachy Ujam, who attended a session in Liverpool, said: “It was very well explained. To be an effective steward you need to familiarise yourself with this new system.” Lola Kehinde also encouraged other stewards to register. “This is a good opportunity to attend, while you’re at conference, as it is often difficult to get time off to attend when you are in work,” she said.

The new system will ensure representatives are able to deliver case work more effectively, to an agreed standard and also receive the right level of support from RCN officers.

If you would like to attend a training session this week, register in advance at the information desk.

Local training

RCN Congress is an ideal opportunity to get up-to-date information but local training is also available across the UK. Contact your regional or country office for details of sessions near you.

Once representatives have completed their training they will be given access to the portal and be provided with an RCN email address from which to send and receive secure emails.

Maria Webb, Manager for RCN UK Case Management, said: “The launch of the new case management portal is an exciting and significant development, which will support stewards when representing members.”
