Health and wellbeing at Congress Flora pro-activ and Congress Wellbeing logos

The RCN is delighted that Flora pro.activ is supporting the health and wellbeing programme at Congress 2011.

This year will focus on mind, body and soul. We have a holistic package of workshopsREPs logo and events such as massage classes, aromatherapy sessions and Tai Chi that you can take part in.

We are working with local experts to offer a fun and varied programme of activities, which includes daily morning walks for early risers!

Monday 11 April  

Waterfront morning walk* 

8.45-9.15am

Location: outside the main reception of the ACC

Looking to get fit, lose weight or just want some early morning fresh air? Then join us at Walk for Health Liverpool on a 30 minute morning walk to set you up for the day. *Please wear sensible clothing and footwear; all participants must complete a health questionnaire prior to the walk for insurance purposes.

Healthy at home

9-5pm

Come and visit our healthy at home area when you can relax in a living room environment and utilise fitness equipment that is affordable, compact and easy to use.

Tai Chi with Howard Richmond

1-1.30pm

Location: room 8

The ancient Chinese soft martial arts of Tai Chi Chuan (supreme ultimate fist) and Chi Kung (energy cultivation) combine the benefits of meditation and aerobic exercise, and are very effective promoters of physical and psychological wellbeing. In this taster session you will be introduced to some standing Chi King postures and gentle Tai Chi exercises which are ideal to practice in short breaks at work to relieve stress and to recharge batteries. Places are limited; please pre-book this session onsite.

Bowen complementary therapies technique taster sessions

1-1.15pm and 1.15-1.30pm (two 15 minute sessions)

Location: room 9

The Bowen Technique is a natural complementary therapy, suitable for all ages, including babies and older people. It is appropriate for a wide range of acute and chronic conditions, including back pain, sciatica, neck, shoulder and knee problems, arthritis, asthma, migraine, sports injuries and stress. Fifteen minute taster sessions will be offered so that you can experience the therapy first hand, many find their aches and pains melt away! Places are limited; please pre-book this session onsite.

1.35-2.05pm

Location: room 8

The benefits of mindfulness based meditation in enhancing psychological and physical wellbeing are becoming increasingly apparent, both in clinical practice, and for personal use in daily life. In this taster session you will be invited to take part in a short recorded guided meditation, and will be introduced to some useful resources should you wish to explore mindfulness further. Places are limited; please pre-book this session onsite.

An aromatic adventure - an introduction to the wonderful world of aromatherapy

1-2pm

Location: Room 9

In this interactive workshop, you will gain a basic understanding of the art of aromatherapy and hear of three specific essential oils used to aid relaxation and stress reduction. The session will be relaxing, fun, informative and intimate with a maximum of ten participants who will each blend their own personal massage oil to take away with them.
