Frontline First: the innovations
RCN Learning & Development Institute
ACC, Upper Galleria, Room 13
Positioning of Nurses/Campaigning
Nurse-led innovations are essential for high quality patient care and many of them could be rolled out across the NHS - but what financial impact could they have? In conjunction with the Office of Public Management we have costed up three Frontline First innovations. Join us as we talk to nurse innovators and unveil the results.
Thursday, 12.45-1.45pm
Improving patient mental health safety
RCN Mental Health Forum
ACC, Upper Galleria, Room 9
Professional Knowledge
Three quarters of nurses and more than a third of service users in acute inpatient mental health settings report they have been subject to violence or threats (Chaplin et al., 2006). This event will share the findings of a risk assessment process developed by Cardiff and Vale University Health Board aimed at recognising the early signs of violence and aggression. In a workshop you will learn about the outcomes of spreading the intervention, the techniques used to spread the innovation across teams, and the knowledge and skills needed to recognise and communicate the risks associated with the early signs of violence and aggression. If you’re interested in patient safety then this event will appeal to you.
Thursday, 12.45-1.45pm
Is the Assistant Practitioner role relevant for children and young people?
RCN Children and Young People: Professional Issues Forum
ACC, Upper Galleria, Room 4a
Professional Knowledge
Join in a discussion of the role of the AP in children and young people’s services. With for and against arguments illustrated through examples, the event will show the impact the development of the role will have on issues such as risks and benefits, fitness for purpose and practice, accountability and providing high quality care. Delegates will then be able to take part in a final vote.
Thursday, 12.45-1.45pm
Trans awareness training for everyone
RCN East Midlands Board
ACC, Upper Galleria, Room 11B
