Forums lead the way at Congress

RCN forums are at the forefront of Congress this year with a number of items on the agenda. With topics ranging from changes to commissioning arrangements, equitable access to health care for older people in care homes, to the re-emergence of diseases such as tuberculosis, we are set for a week of interesting, lively and informed debates.

The Public Health Forum’s Equality and excellence and patient care agenda item calls on Congress to debate whether the changes to commissioning arrangements, as outlined in the NHS White Paper Equality and excellence: liberating the NHS, will actually best serve patients, health care or the NHS in England. At a time of so much change in health care provision, this agenda item will definitely be one to watch (and contribute to).

With the growth of an ageing population being widely reported, the Older Peoples’ Forum is calling for Congress to consider how best to achieve equitable access to health care services for older people who live in care homes and is another important item on the Congress agenda. Where else can you have your say and get involved in the future provision of services along with so many likeminded colleagues?

This is an ideal opportunity for forum members, to voice their expert opinions and ideas and really shape the future direction of the RCN.
