RCN backs Olympics inspired campaign

The RCN is backing a new campaign to encourage people aged over 55 with long-term conditions to lead healthier lifestyles. The launch of Your Personal Best was inspired by this year’s Olympic and Paralympic games and will supply simple and practical materials to GP surgeries to help initiate motivational conversations with patients about activity and to help support them at home
Care for the elderly: white paper on social care published

The Government’s white paper on social care, entitled ‘Care and support’, was launched during July. The delay in reforming funding arrangements for the care of older people, will mean that some pensioners and disabled people could be forced to pay up to £100,000 for care.

In the early part of September 2012, the RCN will launch a completely new website. It will bring a new interface for engaging with our nursing membership. To assist us in collating accurate statistical data, any web bookings made during the initial two month transition phase will be charged a nominal fee of £100 + VAT.
