Respiratory Humidification Infant Critical Care Cardiff

The physiology of the respiratory system in a normal and preterm infant's intact airway is reviewed. The role humidification plays in maintaining normal respiratory function is discussed and the clinical benefits of the delivery of optimal humidity across the respiratory care continuum are presented, underpinned by research to support maximum patient outcomes. Changes to the physiology of the airway as a consequence of invasive ventilation, CPAP and oxygen therapy are discussed, along with new innovations in respiratory care, including nasal high flow therapy.
This seminar is an interactive day delivering both presentations and workshops to support the theory presented with the practical applications seen in clinical practice, to allow delegates to gain as much insight as possible to improve patient care and contribute to a commitment to life long learning.
