Workshop overview

In March 2008 the RCN and Skills for Health launched a suite of national competencies, the National Occupational Standards (NOS) for continence care which will guide the way all practitioners now manage people with bladder and bowel problems.

Six UK wide workshops will showcase these competences to help you understand the NOS and how to use them in your practice.

Who should attend?

All nurses, physiotherapists and occupational therapists working in all care settings, who have an interest in continence care. Specialist nurses working within urology and continence care will also benefit from these workshops.

Key programme themes include:

  • An overview of the completed care suite of NOS
  • Local expamples of NOS related initiatives and how they are working in practice
  • New RCN guidelines on NOS and catheter care
  • New RCN guidelines on NOS and bowel care

The workshops will use a range of interactive approaches to demonstrate the practical application of NOS including case scenarios at local and national level.
