Footprints around the world

The number of travellers from the UK continues to rise. More people are choosing to turn “green” and becoming more aware of the impact of travel on the environment and the changing epidemiology across the globe. This year we have opted to look at our “carbon footprint” and to raise awareness among health professionals and in turn the travelling public on the impact humans have in travelling to testing parts of the globe.

Our expert speakers will address various issues surrounding travel to extremes of altitude and climate and the effects on host countries. Disease surveillance and prevention will provide an evidence base from which to conduct a risk assessment and advise the individual traveller. Travellers caught up in natural disasters and conflict situations may require assistance for treatment and repatriation, so prepartion pre-travel is of paramount importance.

The forum competencies for nurses in travel health medicine are designed to enable nurses in the field to demonstrate best practice and to keep abreast of current information in order to protect the health of British travellers. This conference is essential for all nurses working within or advising on travel health issues.
