Political lobbying at the party political conferences
The RCN will attend all three major party political conferences again this year, to meet with senior politicians and campaign for our members’ priorities to be placed high on the political agenda.
Amongst the issues we are raising with politicians will be:
- the NHS pay award for nurses
- NHS reform
- staff training
- public health.
Conference diaries
You can find out about who we met and the events we attended for the:
- Liberal Democrat party conference (15-20 September, Brighton)
- Labour party conference (23-27 September, Bournemouth)
- Conservative party conference (30 September-3 October, Blackpool).
The Health Hotel
In addition, the RCN will be participating in this year’s Health Hotel, which brings together 36 health-related organisations in one venue at all three party conferences.
At each of the conferences the RCN will be collaborating with the BMA, NHS Confederation and the New Health Network on a fringe entitled: "The politics of the NHS: where should power really lie?"
We will also be working with the Family Planning Association, Royal College of Midwives and British Dental Association on a fringe entitled: "Keeping healthy people healthy: preventive care and the public health agenda". RCN General Secretary, Dr Peter Carter will be speaking at each of the fringes.
More about the Health Hotel can be found on the Health Hotel website.
