The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) today commented on the results of a Care Quality Commission survey which shows that nine out of ten mental health inpatients feel that nurses treat them with respect and dignity. The RCN also echoed serious concerns raised by the report about sleeping arrangements and access to talking therapies.
School nurses stretched to breaking point

The average school nurse has to look after more than 2,500 school children[i], according to a new report from the Royal College of Nursing (RCN). The report found that two thirds felt overstretched and unsupported by their rising workload, and that government targets to increase the numbers of school nurses are unlikely to be met by the deadline next year.
Government will miss 2010 care plan target according to national survey of patient advocacy groups

A nationwide survey of 430 advocacy groups representing the views of over 1 million patients in England has found that over 70 per cent believe the government will miss its target of offering everyone with a long-term condition (such as asthma, diabetes, arthritis and heart disease) a care plan by 2010.
